What We Do

We work to educate and inform US legislators, US government officials and the UN agencies including the UN Human Rights Council on the current Human Rights situation in Sri Lanka particularly as it pertains to the Tamil community.

The Foundation works to:

  • End the ongoing human right abuses in Sri Lanka including
    • Torture and Abduction
    • Sexual violence
    • Indefinite detention without trial or any judicial process
    • Illegal occupation/appropriation of civilian land by the military
  • Facilitate habeas corpus for those detained without trial for prolonged periods.
  • Advance language rights to the Tamils and ensure religious freedom.
  • End discrimination against the Tamils and other minority communities
  • Secure accountability for war crimes, crimes against humanity & other international crimes.
  • Promote constitutional and other structural changes to ensure a pluralistic state, democratic governance and to protect the rights of members of all communities.
